Cyber Crisis Management in Focus: AKSK Holds Fourth Meeting with Critical Infrastructures

The National Cyber Security Authority (AKSK), in cooperation with the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), held the fourth meeting with operators of critical and important information infrastructures, marking the completion of the first cycle of work dedicated to strengthening national cyber security capacities. This session focused on cyber incident and crisis management, a central component in ensuring service continuity and safeguarding the country’s digital systems.

In his opening remarks, the Director General of AKSK, Mr. Igli Tafa, emphasized the importance of establishing a standardized approach across institutions, noting that cyber security today affects every sector and every layer of society. He stressed that “security by design” remains the guiding principle in a rapidly digitalizing society, where any service disruption can have immediate consequences.

During the event, the full incident management process was presented—from detection and categorization, to analysis, coordination with AKSK, and managing the impact on services provided to citizens. Participants also followed a practical demonstration of a real incident, highlighting the importance of professional response and institutional coordination in situations where every second counts.

This meeting represents an important step toward consolidating national cyber security standards and preparing institutions for the challenges of a rapidly advancing digital Albania.
